Empowering families
Restoring Communities

The vision of Hands and Feet is to see communities restored as children are nurtured and families are empowered to stay together and thrive. We do this by supporting vulnerable children and families with healing the past while building the future, through trauma reduction, family unity and faith. We contribute to the family strengthening sector through innovation, training, partnerships and shared learning.

Hands and Feet restores communities by nurturing children, strengthening families, healing trauma and building a hopeful future through faith, innovation, training and partnerships.

Hands and Feet is based primarily in Strandfontein, Mitchells Plain, where poverty, high levels of unemployment and limited education place significant pressure on families. These factors combined with exposure to violence, gangs and substance abuse, create an environment where children face hunger, instability and trauma both at home and in their community.

Beacon of Hope

Hope Takes Root Here

In the midst of these challenges, Hands and Feet is a beacon of hope in supporting vulnerable families with healing the past and building the future, through trauma reduction, family unity and faith.

We run professional, trauma-informed interventions that help families cope, stay together and ultimately thrive. Our whole-family, interdisciplinary approach combines education, social work, occupational therapy, food security and recovery coaching to promote healthy family life, strengthen relationships and walk alongside families on their journey. As a result, many families overcome addiction, secure stable employment and create loving homes where children experience peace and belonging.

This looks different at every age and stage. Here is what it looks like in practice, from before a child is born right through to adulthood.
